About Refugee Rescue

Refugee Rescue is a skilled Search and Rescue (SAR), humanitarian and non-political NGO founded in 2015.

We have two different teams:

Our Land Crew works on shore, spotting boats and helping to distribute non-food items in the Stage 2 temporary facility on the North Shore of Lesvos

Our Boat Crew, which works on our rescue vessel ‘Mo Chara’ (‘My Friend’ in Irish), covering SAR operations at sea

Plans for 2018

Both our teams are currently based on the north shore of Lesvos, and we plan to carry on operations there for as long as we are needed.

Powered by

This platform is powered by Asterias-Starfish Foundation. We are trying to let every organisation have a clear view of the needs on the island of Lesvos. To give them access to funding when they haven't any, and give to the donors the full information they need, when they want to offer their help.

Let's work together, to cover the needs of this humanitarian crisis, through a transparent platform

About us

Matching needs and offers.

Asterias-Starfish Foundation being on the refugees' crisis field for a long time, came face to face with emergency needs, lack of information and communication. Even now, when the flow is not so big, actually nobody knows the needs of the others. So many times, items are remaining in warehouses and refugees still need them. On the other hand, donors want to offer their help in this refugee crisis, but they cannot find where to channel this help.

We are launching this platform to help us to work more efficiently.  To let every organization have a clear view of the needs on the island of Lesvos. To give them access to funding when they haven't any, and give to the donors the full information they need, when they want to offer their help.

Let's work together, to cover the needs of this humanitarian crisis, through a transparent platform.
