About IRC

The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future.

Thanks to the generosity of IRC supporters, more than 26 million people benefited from IRC programs and those of its partner organizations in 2016—over 3 million more individuals than IRC reached in 2015.

Plans for 2018

In 2018 the IRC Site Management Support team will continue to offer support to the site management of Kara Tepe refugee settlement, by ensuring safe and timely door-to-door food distribution, communication with communities, and transportation of persons of concern to various social services.

In addition, IRC's WASH program looks after all aspects of hygiene in Kara Tepe, including maintaining facilities, the provision of hot water, providing personal hygiene items and employing cleaners.

IRC is also responsible for maintaining and cleaning the Stage 2 transit camp in Skala Sikamnias.

Powered by

This platform is powered by Asterias-Starfish Foundation. We are trying to let every organisation have a clear view of the needs on the island of Lesvos. To give them access to funding when they haven't any, and give to the donors the full information they need, when they want to offer their help.

Let's work together, to cover the needs of this humanitarian crisis, through a transparent platform

About us

Matching needs and offers.

Asterias-Starfish Foundation being on the refugees' crisis field for a long time, came face to face with emergency needs, lack of information and communication. Even now, when the flow is not so big, actually nobody knows the needs of the others. So many times, items are remaining in warehouses and refugees still need them. On the other hand, donors want to offer their help in this refugee crisis, but they cannot find where to channel this help.

We are launching this platform to help us to work more efficiently.  To let every organization have a clear view of the needs on the island of Lesvos. To give them access to funding when they haven't any, and give to the donors the full information they need, when they want to offer their help.

Let's work together, to cover the needs of this humanitarian crisis, through a transparent platform.
