About Advocates Abroad

Advocates provides legal and non-legal advocacy for refugees, with a focus on preparing for asylum interviews.

Advocates began operations in Northern Greece, in February 2016, in response the growing call for legal aid from refugees denied entrance at the Idomeni border. To date more than 12,000 refugees in Greece have been informed of their rights and their relevant asylum procedure.

The organisation currently provides advocates in Greece, Turkey, Switzerland and Italy.

Plans for 2018

On Lesvos in 2018 Advocates will offer legal aid clinics at One Happy Family (3 times per week) and outside Moria Camp (once per week).

Powered by

This platform is powered by Asterias-Starfish Foundation. We are trying to let every organisation have a clear view of the needs on the island of Lesvos. To give them access to funding when they haven't any, and give to the donors the full information they need, when they want to offer their help.

Let's work together, to cover the needs of this humanitarian crisis, through a transparent platform

About us

Matching needs and offers.

Asterias-Starfish Foundation being on the refugees' crisis field for a long time, came face to face with emergency needs, lack of information and communication. Even now, when the flow is not so big, actually nobody knows the needs of the others. So many times, items are remaining in warehouses and refugees still need them. On the other hand, donors want to offer their help in this refugee crisis, but they cannot find where to channel this help.

We are launching this platform to help us to work more efficiently.  To let every organization have a clear view of the needs on the island of Lesvos. To give them access to funding when they haven't any, and give to the donors the full information they need, when they want to offer their help.

Let's work together, to cover the needs of this humanitarian crisis, through a transparent platform.
